This page explains what happens to your details when you use this website, send me a note, ring me or email me. Finoptis Ltd, the company I run, is responsible for them.
Who I am
Finoptis Ltd, registered in England and Wales, company number 15667778.
Registered office: 6 Doctor Laithe, Skipton BD23 5HP.
If you have a question about anything on this page, email gerald@finoptis.co.uk or ring 07484 814724.
When you send the contact form
You give me your name, your email address, a line about your business and your phone number if you add it. I use them to reply to you. If we agree to work together, I use them to set that work up.
The form keeps a copy in the website’s database and emails a copy to me at gerald@finoptis.co.uk. It does not record your IP address.
The lawful basis is my legitimate interest in replying to people who get in touch. If we go on to talk about working together, it’s also a step you’ve asked me to take before we agree terms.
When you sign up for notes by email
You give me your email address. I use it to send you a note when I’ve something worth saying and for nothing else.
The lawful basis is your consent, which you give by signing up. You can take it back at any time. Reply to any note or email me and I’ll take you off the list straight away.
When you ring or email me
I keep your number, your email address and a note of what we talked about so I can follow up. The lawful basis is the same as for the contact form.
When you visit the website
The server that runs this site keeps a log of visits. It includes your IP address, your browser and the pages you asked for. Hostinger keeps it for as long as it needs to keep the site running and safe from attack. The lawful basis is my legitimate interest in running a secure website.
Cookies
This website sets no cookies when you visit it. The only cookies it uses are the ones WordPress sets when I log in to edit the site. If that changes, I’ll update this page first and ask for your permission where the law says I must.
You don’t have to give me anything
You can read this site without giving me any details. I just can’t reply to you without a way to reach you.
Who else handles your details
I don’t sell your details or share them for anyone else’s marketing. A few companies handle them for me:
Hostinger International Ltd, which runs the website and its database.
Hostinger International Ltd, which runs the finoptis.co.uk email account.
My accountant if we work together and the accounts need it.
I’d also pass details on if the law required it.
Where your details are kept
Hostinger stores the website in the UK. Hostinger International Ltd is based in Cyprus, in the EU, which UK law treats as giving adequate protection.
How long I keep them
Contact form messages and enquiries that don’t lead to work: only as long as I need them to reply and follow up, then I delete them from the website and my inbox.
If we work together: for as long as the work runs and then for as long as the law requires me to keep business records.
Notes by email: until you unsubscribe. Then I take your address off the list.
Server logs: as long as Hostinger keeps them to run the site.
Your rights
You can ask me for a copy of the details I hold about you. You can also ask me to correct them, delete them, stop using them for a while or send them to you or someone else in a format a computer can read.
You can object to anything I do on the basis of legitimate interests.
I don’t make automated decisions about you and I don’t build profiles.
I’ll reply within one month and there’s no charge.
If you’re unhappy
Tell me first and I’ll put it right if I can. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
